周立平，男，中共党员，理学博士，博士生导师，湘潭大学兼职硕士生导师，5001拉斯维加斯教授，湖南省数学会理事。主要从事偏微分方程理论与求解的研究，重点探索含非局部边界条件的抛物型、椭圆型方程数值解的快速算法。

近年来，主持湖南省教育厅科研重点项目1项，青年项目1项，湖南省自然科学基金区域联合项目1项，在国内外学术期刊AAMM、Numerical Mathematics: Theory, Methods and Applicationsol 上发表学术论文20余篇，其中SCI&EI检索10余篇。指导硕士研究生3人，已毕业3人，拟承担《抽象代数》等研究生课程的教学工作。指导学生参加大学生科技创新项目、学科竞赛、以及社会实践等活动，获全国大学生数学建模竞赛二等奖3项，全国大学生数学竞赛决赛二等奖1项，湖南省大学生数学竞赛一等奖3项，指导学生立项省级大学生创新创业项目2项。
